The Journal of Gender Justice, Sexuality, and Health welcomes a variety of manuscript types that contribute to the field of gender justice, sexuality, and health. We invite submissions from diverse disciplines, including gender studies, sexuality studies, public health, sociology, policy analysis, and law. We encourage contributions that reflect the intersectional nature of gender and sexual health, as well as the social, cultural, and political factors influencing health outcomes and rights.
Original Research Articles
- Empirical Studies: These articles should present original research findings, whether qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods studies, exploring issues related to gender, sexuality, and health. Research articles should be well-structured, providing a clear research question, methodology, results, and implications for practice, policy, or further research.
Review Articles
- Critical Reviews or Meta-Analyses: These articles should offer comprehensive summaries of existing literature on a specific topic within gender justice, sexuality, or health. Authors should synthesize current knowledge, identify key themes and debates, and propose new directions for future research.
Theoretical Papers
- Conceptual and Framework Development: Theoretical papers should present new ideas or frameworks for understanding gender justice, sexuality, and health. These contributions may challenge existing paradigms, develop new theories, or critique dominant frameworks in the field.
Policy Papers
- Policy Evaluation, Critique, or Proposal: Policy papers should focus on evaluating current policies, proposing new policy frameworks, or critiquing the impact of existing laws and regulations on gender justice, sexual rights, and health. Authors should provide evidence-based recommendations for policy improvement, reform, or advocacy.
Case Studies
- Real-World Examples and Practical Insights: Case studies should provide detailed analyses of specific instances or examples of gender justice or sexual health issues. These papers should highlight real-world challenges, interventions, and outcomes, offering valuable lessons for practitioners, policymakers, and academics.
Letters to the Editor
- Commentaries and Responses: Letters to the editor offer a platform for brief commentaries on issues discussed in previous articles published in the journal. These may also include responses to ongoing debates or recent developments in gender justice and sexual health.
Submission Guidelines
To ensure the efficient processing of manuscripts, authors should adhere to the following submission guidelines:
Online Submission System
- All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system. This system facilitates a streamlined submission process, tracks the status of your manuscript, and ensures that all necessary information is provided for review and publication.
Title, Abstract, and Keywords
- Manuscripts should include a title that clearly reflects the focus of the research or argument.
- An abstract (150-250 words) summarizing the key objectives, methods, findings, and significance of the paper must accompany the manuscript. The abstract should be informative and accessible to a broad academic audience.
- Authors should provide 3-5 keywords that best describe the subject matter of the manuscript. These keywords help improve the visibility of your article in databases and search engines.
Formatting Guidelines
- Manuscripts should follow the journal’s specific formatting guidelines, which will be available on the submission page. These include guidelines for font style and size, margin sizes, referencing style, and structure (e.g., headings, subheadings).
- Please ensure that the manuscript is formatted in Microsoft Word or PDF format for submission.
- The manuscript must be double-spaced with a font size of 12 points, using a readable font such as Times New Roman.
Cover Letter
- All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter that introduces the manuscript to the editorial team. The cover letter should include:

- A statement confirming that the manuscript has not been submitted or published elsewhere, and that all authors have agreed to the submission.
- Disclosure of any potential conflicts of interest, financial support, or funding sources related to the manuscript.
Ethical Considerations
- Authors must adhere to ethical guidelines when submitting their manuscript. This includes obtaining ethical approval for research involving human participants or animals. A statement confirming ethical approval must be included in the manuscript.
- Manuscripts should not contain any plagiarized content. Authors are required to ensure that all sources, including texts, figures, and tables, are appropriately cited.
- If the manuscript contains previously published content, authors must provide full citations and disclose any potential overlap.
Supplementary Material
- Authors may submit supplementary material, such as datasets, additional tables, or multimedia files (e.g., video, audio, or images), to support the content of the manuscript. Any supplementary material will be made available alongside the article in the online publication, as appropriate.
Manuscript Review Process
Once the manuscript is submitted, it undergoes a thorough peer review process to ensure the quality and academic rigor of the work. This process involves the following steps:
- Initial Screening: The editorial team will conduct an initial screening to assess whether the manuscript aligns with the journal’s scope and meets the basic submission criteria.
- Peer Review: If the manuscript passes the initial screening, it will be sent to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the field. The reviewers will evaluate the manuscript for originality, quality, methodology, and contribution to the field. They will also assess the clarity of the writing and relevance of the research findings.
- Decision: After reviewing the peer reviewers’ feedback, the editorial team will make a decision regarding the manuscript. The options include:
- Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication with minimal or no revisions.
- Revise and Resubmit: The manuscript requires major or minor revisions before it can be accepted for publication.
- Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal.
Authors will be notified of the decision and receive constructive feedback from reviewers.
